When purchasing walking or running shoes tying the shoes correctly is crucial for proper fit and form.  The purpose of a shoe is to fit the foot perfectly – like a shell around the foot.

The middle of the shoe is where the support is.  This gives lift to the shoe and supports the ankle and arch of the foot.
