As we anxiously await longer days and warmer weather, we don’t realize that things are going to heat up faster that we think. Starting today, we enter the energetic season of the Fire Element, which runs May 6 – July 19.
Fire’s natural characteristic is to be hot, dry and blaze upward. As such, the heart and small intestine are the organs attached to fire and summer. The heart controls the mind and governs the blood and when there is too much fire and heat blazes upwards, the mind can become restless, the face red, and the emotions agitated.
Because the power of Fire is felt most intensely in summer, summer may be the best time for you to concentrate on rebuilding the energy consumed during the winter and spring months. As summer activities can sometimes appropriate your relaxation and meditative time, make sure to find a balance between action and being, between social events and time to be in your garden, or relax in your hammock, and allow the earth to nourish you and recharge your battery pack.
As you take some time to unwind, make sure to take some time to care for your skin. Cool down overheated, sensitive skin with the correct products to alleviate the ‘fire’. Fire imbalance usually manifests as redness, irritated, sensitive, blotchy or allergic skin, excessive heat and perspiration, couperose, and issues of red blood (arterial) circulation.
